Missions and Ministries
As a
church, we place a priority on supporting missions work and mercy ministries
near and far.
Missions
works we support:
Per
& Beth Almquist (Lewiston, ME) – Per is the pastor of
Free Grace Presbyterian Church in Lewiston, a
daughter church of Christ the Redeemer in Portland, ME, which was recently planted by our presbytery and the PCA’s Mission to
North America (MNA) agency.
Stan & Donna Armes (South Africa): Stan & Donna are
Mission to the World (MTW) missionaries currently serving in South Africa with
the Bible Institute Eastern Cape.
Stan is a seminary professor, while Donna is involved in Christian counseling,
especially for those with AIDs. Stan and Donna also serve in couples
counseling with their local church.
Chris
& Zhenya Bear (England): Chris & Zhenya are MTW missionaries working toward the planting of a church in the London area.
Jamie
& Jackie Gildard (France): Jamie & Jackie are MTW missionaries serving in Marseilles, France. In addition to their work with a local church, they
are involved in evangelism and discipleship with a variety of groups and
individuals.
Hong Key Chung (Romania) – Hong Key
is a Korean missionary involved in church planting and discipleship throughout Romania. His efforts have
led to the establishment of a Presbyterian church in Bucharest.
Jeff & Micha Marlowe (Atlanta) –
Jeff & Micha are MTW missionaries working out of the agency's headquarters. Jeff works with MTW to recruit and
train missionaries for service among predominantly Muslim populations in Europe and
North Africa.
O. Palmer Robertson (Uganda): Dr. Robertson serves as director
and principal of the African Bible College campus in Kampala,
Uganda. The school provides a rigorous Bible and liberal arts education in preparing
students to serve as leaders in the central African church. In addition to
supporting Dr. Robertson, EPC helps to pay the tuition of a student at the school
each year.
Herb
Shipman (Vermont):
Herb is a retired PCA pastor who
leads a Bible study ministry among the dairy farmers of northern Vermont.
Bob & Joanne Tanzie

plant churches with a team in the Madrid area.
Jon & Allie Taylor (Manchester, NH)
– Jon is the pastor of the
Church

Manchester, a church recently planted by our presbytery and MNA.
Ken &
Katy Wienecke (North Carolina) – Ken & Katy work
with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Ken is involved in using computer technology to
develop typescripts for use in the translation of non-Roman script languages.
Gideons International
– For many years, Gideons has been involved in Bible distribution and evangelism around the world. Our gift helps
provide Bibles for members of the US military.
The Presbyterian Church in
America - The PCA supports two large missionary agencies: Mission to North America (MNA), responsible for church
planting in the United States and Canada, and Mission to the World (MTW), responsible
for international church planting. Our missions giving contributes to the budgets
of both of these agencies, as well as supporting Covenant College, Covenant Seminary, the
administrative work of the denomination, its campus ministry (Reformed University
Ministries), a retreat center (Ridge Haven), and its Christian education agency.
Northern New England
Presbytery – Our presbytery includes churches and
mission works (early stage churches) in the states of Vermont, New
Hampshire, and Maine. The presbytery supports church planting efforts in the region as well
as foreign missions and the work of Hong Key Chung in Romania.
Special Offerings – Each year,
Exeter Presbyterian takes part in two special offerings coordinated by our denomination. The Christmas collection
provides aid to retired PCA ministers in need and their widows and orphans. The Easter
collection supports a world-wide disaster relief fund.
Local
mercy ministries we support:
Operation
Blessing: Located in Portsmouth, NH, Operation Blessing provides transitional help for women with young children in need. Exeter
Presbyterian holds an annual appliance and housewares drive as well as an annual
clothing drive in support of this ministry.
Birthright (of Portsmouth, NH):
Our local Birthright center provides aid, support, and
life-affirming
alternatives to women in crisis pregnancy situations in the seacoast area of
New
Hampshire. We have an annual diaper drive and fundraising flower sale to
support
these efforts.
New Generations (Portsmouth): New
Generations provides support and life skills training to homeless women and
mothers with young children. Our church holds an annual paper goods drive
to aid this ministry.
St.
Vincent de Paul Society (Exeter): The Exeter
chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society
provides food and other essentials to the needy of our community. Exeter
Presbyterian participates is their annual Thanksgiving Food drive and raises
funds to support
this ministry through an annual charity garage sale at the church.
Christmas gifts:
Each Christmas, St. Michael's Church of Exeter coordinates an effort to purchase
gifts for the needy of our community. Individual families from our church
annually participate in this effort.
