Prayers Glorious King, You have revealed to us wonderful things that we might hear and obey what is written in Your Word. We believe in Your victorious Son. He has freed us from our sins by His blood. He is coming again in clouds of glory. Grant us patient endurance in any trial that we may face now. Fill us with a true vision from Your Word of the greatness of Your Son. Take from our minds every false image of Jesus and fill us with the truth. He is Lord, and He is powerful and alive. He is more than able to save us. He watches over Your church throughout the world and provides us with everything that we need for progress in holiness. Thank You for the wonder of Your household even now in this present age. Thank You especially for the greatness of Your Son who rules and reigns from His throne in glory. Father God, there is much trouble in Your church. We need patient endurance even now. There are those who come to us as if they were apostles, but they are workers of iniquity. Help us to remember our first love. Teach us the truth of our riches in Christ. Though we may be very poor and sorely persecuted in this life, You have given us victory over eternal judgment through the cross of Christ. Help us to hold fast to Your Name even in the place where Satan seems to dwell. Teach Your church to turn away from all false doctrine in places that love wickedness. Thank You for the truth of Your Son. Help us to move forward in wonderful works consistent with Your Word. There is so much immorality and idolatry all around us, and even within us. We turn away from wickedness by Your power. We will conquer falsehood and evil in Your Son’s Name. Grant us the Morning-Star, for we eagerly long for His appearing. Lord God, we need the fullness of Your Spirit, lest we wander far from the truth. Wake us up even now, for Your Son is coming at a time that we do not know. Grant us the garments of Christ’s righteousness, for our names are written in the Book of Life. You are God. You open the door that no man can shut. Teach us to hold fast to Your Word in this hour of great trial. Make us to be pillars in Your temple, for we are not strangers to Your grace. Glorious Lord, we hear that there is a new Jerusalem coming! What a day of glory! Will we be lukewarm about the return of Your Son? This makes no sense for those who believe the truth of Your Word. How have we become so easily distracted and deceived? We hear You knocking even now at the door of this assembly. We rush to You and open that door of grace and faith with some holy fear, but also with abundant joy and expectation. Come Lord God into Your holy temple, for we are Your people! Never cast us away! You know our weakness and our sinful doubting. Fill us with Your forgiveness and Your love. God of Glory, there is a door to heaven open for us in Jesus Christ our Lord. We see Your apostles there together with the sons of Jacob. We see the angels around Your glorious throne. We are overcome with the wonder of Your incomparable holiness. We give glory to You even now with apostles, patriarchs, and angels. We extol You as the great God of creation. You made everything for Your glory, and we worship You. Father God, where would we be without the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ? There was no man among men who was worthy to open the scroll of the future. This current age that we live in must move forward and eventually come to an end. Would we have been trapped in this world of sin and misery forever if the heavenly scroll had not been opened? But the seals of that scroll were opened, because Your perfectly wise and wonderful Son was worthy. He ransomed us from death and hell through His blood. Because of His great worthiness we will join those who have gone before us into the company of myriads of angels. We will worship and serve You forever. O Great and Glorious God, there is no one like Your Son. He is worthy and has opened the seven seals of Your judgment and salvation. We live now in the midst of a world of danger and difficulty. There is much trouble everywhere. Throughout this age we see and feel hunger, illness, persecution, and even death. Yet You will judge wickedness and will bring deliverance to all who fear Your Name. This age will come to a conclusion, and there will be a better age for all who believe in the Lamb. Father God, who is the one who is the commander of Your host on high? Surely Your Son rules over men and angels. We look to see the fullness of Your people in the age to come. There we will stand before Your glorious throne. Salvation belongs to You and to the Lamb. You are worthy of all blessing and glory and wisdom and power and might. You know every suffering servant who faces trials now for the glory of Your Name. You love Your people, and have sent Your Son as Your greatest Servant, that we might be in the number of Jews and Gentiles who would love You and enjoy Your presence forever. Father, who can stand before You when You come in judgment? We offer up our prayers through our Mediator who perfects our humble offering. You use our prayers to bring about wonderful things, but we do not understand very much about the way that You do this, or even why You do such important things in this way. We do trust You, for You are great, and You love us. There is an amazing devastation coming upon the earth from Your glorious throne. Our only hope now and forever is to be found in Christ. Whether we live or die, we ask that You would keep us through Your abiding love. Glorious Lord, there is an adversary who stands against You and hates us. It is comforting to know that You are sovereign over everything. This age will come to an end. Until that day there will be much trouble. We thank You that Satan is not equal to You, but must follow Your decrees. Through whatever sin or curse we travel, we pray that You will move us forward toward the coming age. Grant us perseverance and true repentance. We want to live and die well. We want to walk in faith through even the darkest night. Have mercy on us. Keep us from utterly falling, and give us a peace that passes understanding. Merciful Lord, Your Son is coming, and He will be over all of creation in an obvious way. He is glorious in beauty and terrible in His wrath. His Word is powerful, and His decrees will stand. When He determines that there will be no more delay, then the trumpet will sound. All that You have promised through the prophets will surely be accomplished. You have spoken words that bring both comfort and horror, words that touch on many nations and rulers. Your Son is above them all, and His will shall be accomplished. Great God, You will fulfill Your every Word concerning the glory of the age to come. At the return of Your Son, You will bring Your judgment upon the false church and the world. You have warned us that this current age is a period of tribulation, yet You have promised us that You know how to rescue Your servants and to bring them to Your side even now. How we thank You, Father, that even when Your servants die today, they do not have to wait for millennia to see You. Today they are with You and Your Son in paradise. Nonetheless, we long for the day when we will hear the announcement that You reign in glory over all the earth. Father, if Your temple in heaven were open to our eyes at this moment, what would we see? Grant us faith to believe all of Your promises. Something very good is surely coming, for You do not lie. Father God, Your Son has come as a Child of the Old Covenant community. This Son of Mary is also Your only-begotten Son. Blessed be Your Name! He faced the greatest tribulation for our sake. Bring us through this current period of birth pains as we wait for the fullness of the New Covenant community. There is a warfare going on that we do not fully see. You must carry us through the evil day. The devil and his angels have been cast down upon the earth, and there is much hatred against Your church. Protect us, O Lord! Reign over this accuser of our brothers. His time is measured and will swiftly come to an end. Give us wings to fly to safety through all kinds of trouble, and give us strength and courage as we fight the battle that You have ordained for us in this life. It does help us to know that our trials are not accidental, and that You, who gave Your Son for us, can never be defeated. Lord God, the world is so impressive to our carnal minds. Teach us to reject its blasphemies and deceptions. There is a better way for us. Grant us endurance and faith. Bless us with a love of heaven and a delight in our great Savior who dwells at Your right hand. How will we live through the kind of tribulations that come to us in this age? Show us the way of wisdom, that we might resist the devil and submit to You. Almighty Father, we rejoice in the Lamb, and we thank You for the full temple that He is gathering from every tribe, tongue, and nation. We have been redeemed from mankind by Your powerful Spirit. Thank You for the eternal good news that we now proclaim throughout the earth. Our hope has never been in the Babylon of this world. Give us courage to make righteous choices while we have the opportunity to obey You and to endure in the midst of trouble. If we lose our lives because of our faithfulness to the Son of Man, we will yet be blessed by You. The day of the final harvest of the earth will surely come. Our hope in that day will be in Christ alone. Send forth Your holy angels at just the right time. Glorify Your Name and the Name of Your Son Jesus Christ, and rescue Your children whom You have called out of darkness to serve You forever. Heavenly Father, can it be that one day Your wrath will be finished? Great and amazing are Your deeds. Just and true are Your ways. All nations should worship and serve You. You live forever and ever, and You fill Your temple with the glory of Your presence. Almighty God, it is not safe for us to follow the ways of the world. You are just and holy, and we cannot support those who shed the blood of Your people. We cannot be in league with those who curse Your Name and hate Your discipline. We repent of our evil deeds. You will deliver us from all wickedness. We know that Your Son is coming. We thank You for Your sure promise to us. The powers of the world as we know them will come to an end, but Your kingdom will endure forever. Lord of Hosts, a Day of Judgment is coming. The adultery of Your church cannot go on forever. Has Your church loved the mysteries of idolatrous worship? Forgive us, O Lord, and turn us back to the purity of Your love. We turn away from all the murderous hatred that has filled the hearts of false brothers over many centuries. Your electing love is more precious to us than any enticing lie of the world. The word and the devil promise us many pleasures with all their deception and power. We will not follow the one who denies the truth of Your Son. Our Lamb will subdue every enemy. We would too easily be deceived by spectacular lies. Help us, O God! Keep us in Your Word. Merciful God, there is a day coming when all the filthy deceptions of this current age will be gone. We will not be lost in the ugliness of rebellion on that day. We want none of this world’s immorality. We separate ourselves from the love of the world even now, for we do not want to die in our sins. We reject that wicked queen, that Jezebel who entices millions. All her luxury will be turned to dust and ashes. All her many comforts and wonders will be taken away from her. She captured people with her lies and enslaved them. She hated Your wisdom and love. We cast away all her jewels and spices. We cling to our Savior Jesus. We would rather have Him than all of the wonders of the city of this world. You will rescue us and will judge the world. Grant us the wisdom of knowing the difference between eternal life and everlasting destruction. We want none of the strange sorceries of this age. We want You, and we hold fast to Your excellent promises. We praise You, O Lord! Your judgments are true and just. The heavens have always declared Your glory. We long to join the great multitude on high who rejoice in Your glorious eternal reign. We have been clothed with the righteousness of Christ, and even with the fine linen of the good works that You have prepared for us, that we should walk in them. We thank You for Your grace. Our salvation is in Your Son alone. He is our Redeemer. He will rule forever, He is King of kings and Lord of lords. The day of destruction is coming upon the earth, but we will be with You forever and ever. O the great clarity of that glorious day of our rescue! Grant us true insight even now, according to the perfection of Your holy Word. Father God, You have been victorious over Satan through the cross of Christ. This enemy is restrained even now, that the Word might be proclaimed to all the nations. Thank You for this day of gospel opportunity. Thank You also for the privilege of dying for the truth of Your Son. Though Satan is restrained, yet His fury is known and felt by Your church. Before Your Son returns, we understand that a day of the most intense trouble will come. Yet then Your Son will return and put away the devil and his allies. Father, our names are written in the book of life. Our unrighteousness has been defeated through the glorious life and death of Your Son. Great God and King, we long for the new age that is coming. What a joy it is to contemplate what we will soon see: the new heavens, the new earth, the holy city, the glorious bride, the perfect Husband, no more mourning, no more crying, no more pain. We are so thoroughly blessed by Your wonderful love. You will dwell with us forever. Can it be – death shall be no more? Yes, You are making all things new. You will bring all Your gracious plans to the most perfect fulfillment. There will be a complete separation of the righteous and the wicked. O God in heaven, embrace us forever in Your perfect grace. Keep us in Your holy new Jerusalem. Knit us together in love even now. This new city is surely coming with all of its beauty and wonderful glory. What gates! What walls! What streets of gold! What light is there forever! What a temple is ours in Christ the Lord! We thank You, O Lord, forever and ever. Our Father in Heaven, we long for You and for the place of Your glory. We rejoice in Your promises. Your Word is trustworthy and true. The Lord Jesus Christ is coming soon. We wait in hope for the age of resurrection. Teach us to worship You day by day, for the time is near. Your Son is the Alpha and the Omega. Bring us into Your holy city through Him. He is the One Gate, the Son of David, the Bright Morningstar. Please do not cast us off forever! We are Your children! Come, Lord Jesus! Amen.
